Insurance
There are a few different types of credentials for counsellors in British Columbia and Alberta in Canada. Coverage depends on the type of policy you have. Generally, many extended benefit plans reimburse clients for some or all costs of counselling if registered counsellor or mental health therapist is mentioned in the benefits. Please check details of your coverage.
Most extended health insurance providers accept the designation of Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC), which is considered equivalent to other counselling designations such as Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). In Alberta, Saima Shah has the title of ‘Counselling Therapist’ as a member of ACTA and many insurers cover counselling if the policy mentions the above. Direct Billing
HHA Inc., does not offer Direct Billing. After the client pays, we provide receipts to the client that they can claim for reimbursement if applicable.
