What is it?
Frankincense comes from the Boswellia tree which grows in Oman (and a few other places in the Middle East). When tapped, it releases a sap, which is then made into a resin. That resin is burnt in mosques, synagogues and churches. And for good reason. It smells the way heaven would. A deeply spiritual oil, Frankincense stimulates the brain to release anti-inflammatory chemicals that instantly send that signal to stop pain through the body. Biologically, Frankincense is one of the rare essential oils that bypasses the blood/brain barrier (meaning that no breakdown of components is needed) to reach cells directly. When I had an immune reaction to the vaccine last year Frankincense helped me continue working through the reaction. Since the experience of pain can be due to emotional, spiritual, and physical causes, Frankincense can be helpful in reducing pain and inflammation from any cause.
How To Use Frankincense
- Burn it: Frankincense incense dispels fear and anger. It can enhance willpower and focus.
- Spray it: Mix a few drops of essential oil in water and spray the air.
- Apply it: Mix it with a carrier oil such as Coconut, Jojoba and Almond oil in the following ratio: 30-40 drops to 15ml of carrier oil. (1ml to 15-20ml). Apply to major chi points on the body e.g., palms, soles of feet, wrists, spine, temples, nape of neck, sternum and/ or navel.
Essential oils are highly volatile. They always do better with a carrier oil, which keeps the compounds in the oil together and activated rather than dissipating in the air.
Spiritually: Frankincense is a master healer, it helps give spiritual protection and makes it easier to empty the mind for prayer or meditation.
Emotionally: Transforms heavy emotional baggage for greater willpower and resilience.
