Frankly, I can’t say. I believe it is all about the energy. I’d probably say that practicing that which is accessible to you and you feel better when you do it, will help you.
When I first received the connection and guidance from source for the practice that I now call Saima Meditation, I didn’t know what else was out there which could be similar or different….I didn’t even know what was happening and I honestly had no name for it. It was a state of profound connection and allowing. Spirit doesn’t give out handy user manuals, though I felt so guided by source, I still had a lot of questions (my conscious mind is a very critical being).
Being a curious cat, I had to know more…so, I admit it, I became a Meditation junkie! I tried Buddhist style breath meditations, yoga style body as object methods, Sufi chanting and whirling, hypnotherapy relaxation approaches and a host of other approaches such as Silva, Transcendental Meditation and Vipassana. I opened a meditation centre in Port Moody, and set up a few yoga based meditation classes….they were yoga based, because yoga is a well developed, really effective style of meditation, with several levels to help people move through stages, which is 5000 years old at least!
I realized that all the approaches worked, because, when we work together in a group with a similar intention, there is an amazing phenomena called entrainment that makes the group facilitator’s energy help other people to meditate. This is why in person classes can be so effective!
If you are truly able to meditate—you may not need anything else, because, it transforms your life, your mind and you!
